Meet the 2008
Campaign Chair
Theresa Carter
President, OMNOVA Solutions Foundation
The
United Way of Summit County has named S. Theresa Carter,
President of OMNOVA Solutions Foundation, as the 2008 volunteer
campaign chairman of the United Way/Red Cross annual campaign.
She will be involved in planning
and implementing the fundraising effort, recruiting members for
the cabinet, and attending campaign events. Theresa will
spearhead the effort to make personal visits to more than 300
businesses and organizations in our community to encourage
support of the campaign.
On behalf of the OMNOVA Solutions Foundation, Carter currently
serves on 7 community non-profit boards in the Akron area: United Way of Summit
County; Project GRAD; Community Health Center; J.O.G. Our Way; The University of Akron Foundation;
Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce; and the NAACP Akron Chapter.
Carter is involved in programs for the Akron Public Schools,
including BECOME, Akron Reads and the Business Advisory Council.
She also serves on the Copley-Fairlawn Schools Guidance Advisory
Council and on key committees for the American Red Cross, and Akron
General Community Health.
She has been recognized with numerous awards, including the
ATHENA, Whitney M. Young, Jr. Service to Youth Award, H. Peter Burg
Volunteer of the Year Award, Helen E. Arnold Humanitarian Award,
Community Health Center President's Award, Peter Bommarito
Community Award and YWCA Woman of Achievement. Carter received
her bachelor of arts degree in Communications from the
University of Alabama. She lives in Copley, Ohio with her
husband and two daughters.
