Board Members
Elected, Awards Presented at Annual Meeting
More than 340 community leaders attended United Way of Summit County’s
Annual Meeting, Thursday, April 26, 2007, at the Sheraton Suites Hotel
in Cuyahoga Falls.
New board officers and members were also elected at the Annual Meeting
following the acknowledgement of retiring board members, Kenneth Beach
of University Park Development Corporation, Alan Bleyer of Akron General
Medical Center, James Crutchfield retired from the Akron Beacon Journal,
Marc Merklin of Brouse McDowell, LLP, Sylvester Small, Akron Public
Schools and Shari Whitfield of Robert Baird & Company.

Several awards were presented at the meeting including the Distinguished
Service Award, presented to Roger Read, the Lorry Vishnia Staff
Excellence Award that was given to Kiren Bansal, and the Community
Builder Award, which was given to Brian Thomas, President & CEO of AAA,
Akron Auto Club.
Awards were also presented to companies that displayed a strong
commitment to United Way of Summit County and the community in 2006.
These awards include the Spirit of Caring Awards, which was presented to
The Babcock & Wilcox Company, and the Cornerstone Awards, which were
given to Goodyear and FirstEnergy. |
