FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FOURTH ANNUAL ‘AMAZING RACE’ SLATED FOR OCTOBER 14

(AKRON, OHIO) – The fourth annual ‘Amazing Race’ – presented by Matco Tools to benefit United Way of Summit County – will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2007.

The cost for adults to participate in The Amazing Race is $20 per person and $5 for children 6 to 12 years old.  Children 5 and under are free.  There must be at least two adults per car.

The winner will receive an Amazing Race trophy and an amazing grand prize.   Trophies will be awarded to the second and third place finishers as well.  There will also be a raffle for a variety of fun items.  A limited number of Amazing Race tee shirts are available FREE with paid registrations.  For more information, visit www.uwsummit.org.

Rich Hoselton of Matco Tools explained the premise of the ‘Amazing Race.’  “It’s a little bit like a scavenger hunt,” Hoselton said.  “Participants are given clues to various sites throughout Summit County, and they find the answers to their questions when they visit these places.  Because our event is for the benefit of United Way of Summit County, we wanted to show some of the agencies that receive funding from United Way.  It will be a fun day.  Participants will get to sharpen their driving skills, learn more about the community, and maybe win some prizes.”

Drivers will be sent out between 1:00 and 2:00 pm from the American Red Cross – Summit County Chapter parking lot, 501 W. Market Street, Akron.  Food and refreshments will be available for participants at the conclusion of the race.  For more information about the Amazing Race, call Rich Hoselton at 330-926-5419.

United Way of Summit County President Bob Kulinski said, “There are more than 50 agencies throughout Summit County that receive funding from United Way, and this event will show you a few of them.  Our thanks go to the wonderful people at Matco Tools for sponsoring this event.”
