ABOUT THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY OF SCHOOL BOARDS ON OCTOBER 18TH
(AKRON,
OHIO)
– The School Board Governance Project is sponsoring a seminar called
“School Boards: They Affect
Us All’ on Thursday, October 18, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at the Main Library, 80 South High Street in
Downtown Akron. This seminar is free and open to the public.
This
seminar is sub-titled ‘what you need to know before you cast your
vote in November.’ The panel discussion and question and answer
period with the audience will help to clarify the work, role and the
responsibility of school boards in the education of our youth. The
panel will consist of a school superintendent, a school treasurer
and teacher union representative.
Susan Z.
Vogelsang, chair of the School Board Governance Project, said, “Many
people have misconceptions about the school board’s job in the
education of our youth and operation of our schools. We hope to
give people information about what they should expect from this
vital governmental body so people can cast a more informed vote for
school board this fall.”
