 How Can You Get Involved
  • Weekly Listing of Volunteer Opportunities
    A way to promote and encourage volunteerism by advertising volunteer opportunities in your company, organization or school’s newsletter or website. For more information, please contact Pam Beals, Director, Volunteer Services at 330.643.5512 or pbeals@uwsummit.org.
     
  • Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC)
    The Corporate Volunteer Council will guide you in the process of organizing, managing and evaluating an employee volunteer program for your company.

  • Brown Bag Seminars
    Brown Bag Seminars will inform and educate your employees or your group on subjects of interest in both the workplace and their personal lives. Youth Brown Bag Seminars
     
  • Day of Action 
    Our most popular event - Build, paint, cook, etc., with over 1,000 other community members. A day of work and fun to aid local health and human service agencies.

  • Done In A Day

  • AkronReads
    You could be a community volunteer in the Akron Reads program. Help children polish their reading skills and help raise the reading scores in Akron Public Schools by being a tutor.
     
  • Volunteer Management Training
    The United Way Volunteer Center makes training classes available for local non-profit volunteer coordinators.  Call Pam at 330.643.5512 or email Pam for information on upcoming classes.

Directors
This volunteer group of leaders from our community, steers the United Way of Summit County.  Meeting once monthly, the Board of Directors oversees nearly all aspects of the organization.

Community Investment
Review Teams

You DO have a say in how your donations are spent. This volunteer group reviews local agency programs and budgets each year. The teams discuss community needs, study agency outcomes and recommend United Way of Summit County's fund distribution.
