The United Way of Summit County Volunteer Center
The United Way of Summit County Volunteer Center has an online search tool for volunteer opportunities! You can search for opportunities directly using your own profile, interests and availability. Search for a particular agency or use the event calendar to view one-time opportunities. By registering, you will be able to connect with agencies directly. Registered users can also enjoy features like a personal volunteer calendar, profile to update, and a special event calendar.

  • Volunteer Opportunities for Teens and Younger Children
    Looking for some volunteer opportunities that you could do with your children this summer or that your teenager could do alone?  Check this list.

  • Done in a Day Opportunities - View a list of current opportunities
    A unique opportunity for a group of volunteers to make a valued contribution by volunteering a half day or full day at a local nonprofit agency.  The Volunteer Center will work with your group to match interests with a project needed in the community.   • Holiday Opportunities - Holiday Opportunities can be a variety of projects, but focus heavily on adopt-a-family programs, events and gift wrapping.


  • Volunteer Celebration
    The United Way of Summit County Volunteer Center leads the community in its overall celebration of volunteers and their value in improving the quality of community life.

  • Day of Action - Friday, June 19, 2015  Find more information
    Our most popular event - Build, paint, cook, etc., with over 1,000 other community members. A day of work and fun to aid local health and human service agencies.

  • Read To Me Day
    Coordinated by the Corporate Volunteer Council, this is a cooperative effort between local businesses and Akron Public Schools to promote literacy.  Businesses adopt a school and provide volunteers to read in classrooms for approximately a half hour for each class. 


  • Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC)
    The Corporate Volunteer Council will guide you in the process of organizing, managing and evaluating an employee volunteer program for your company.
    Current CVC Companies
    Directors of Volunteers in Agencies (DOVIA) of Greater Akron is a professional association that provides resources and training for volunteer administrators in Summit County and surrounding counties. Together, through the cooperation and collaboration of members, DOVIA of Greater Akron works to promote volunteerism in our community and the continual education of those in the professional field.
  • Volunteer Management Training
