City of Akron Kicks off Campaign with Outdoor Luncheons

In August, the City of Akron held two outdoor luncheons to kick-off its United Way campaign, one in downtown Akron in front of the Municipal Building and the other at the city's Public Works building on Triplett Boulevard.  Each location sold hotdogs, soda pop and ice cream sundaes. The general public and city employees enjoyed dance tunes played by DJ Billy Soule, assistant to the Mayor for community relations. Others purchased raffle tickets for a variety of door prizes, played corn-hole and participated in a hot dog-eating contest.  All lunch proceeds raised will benefit the community through United Way. A special thank you to Mayor Jeff Fusco for attending to show his support of United Way!
