READ TO ME DAY BARBERTON
FRIDAY, MARCH 1, 2019
Reading aloud to children stimulates language and cognitive skills and builds motivation, curiosity and memory. Discover how great it feels to introduce a child to a lifetime love of books by volunteering to read in a Barberton City Schools classroom. Volunteers may bring a library book, a book of their own, or a new book to donate to the classroom.
PAGE IT FORWARD BOOK DRIVE
MONDAY, MARCH 11, 2019 AND WEDNESDAY MARCH 20, 2019
A book can be a child’s first window into the world beyond their neighborhood. It can be a prized possession, a source of comfort, knowledge and amusement – and it can be her first step toward lasting success. Children from households rich in books are 36% more likely to graduate from high school than children without a home library. Help United Way achieve its Bold Goals 1 & 2 by sorting and distributing books for Akron Public School students.
SORT-A-THON: Monday, March 11, 2019
DISTRIBUTION DAY: Wednesday, March 20, 2019
This year we will be eliminating collections in order to purchase new books. Please click here see our wish list if you would like to purchase books for the students.
