Feb 24, 2017

Be a Champion for Literacy!

Three ways to get involved:

  1. February 6-24,
Collect new & ‘like new’ books for children in grades K-6. You may also make a donation and we will purchase books for you.
  2. March 1, Sort-a-thon
Lawton Community Center, 9 a.m., 1225 Lawton St. Akron, OH 44320
  3. March 9, distribution day
Four Akron Public Schools, 9 a.m., (limited availability)

DID YOU KNOW?

Nearly two-thirds of low-income families do not have books in their homes.

YOU CAN HELP:

Help United Way improve literacy in Summit County by collecting children’s books – new and like new – for Akron Public School students in grades K-6.

HOW IT WORKS:

United Way will deliver collection bins for books to your location. Your organization will collect books through the month of February. At the Sort-a-Thon on March 1, volunteers will sort the books for distribution to school students on March 9.
