Everyone wonders what it’d be like to fly down the world famous
Derby Downs in a Soap Box car. Here’s the chance for your company’s
team to find out! The FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby
and United Way of Summit County are uniting for the 3rd
Annual Corporate Derby Challenge .
Build a company team car with coworkers and partake in the our
version of greatest amateur racing event in the world.
In 1933 a Dayton news photographer decided to promote a derby
race in suburban Dayton, OH. Over 300 kids showed up to the event in
August of ‘33 with cars made mostly of junk items - orange crates,
sheet tin, wagon and baby-buggy wheels – and of course soap boxes.
For this Corporate Challenge Derby, corporate teams of up to seven
will construct and decorate less-precarious versions of these
original Soap Box cars – a perfect way to enhance your brand’s name.
So put your work on hold for one afternoon in July, make a team,
and start planning! The building starts at 1pm on July 13th.
Following a dinner provided by the Soap Box Derby and United Way,
the racing begins! Invite your friends, family, and coworkers for an
evening of cheering and authentic, All-American entertainment.
Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams,
while each participating organization will get to keep their hand
crafted cars. Additionally, the top three teams will be invited to
celebrate their victory during the All-American Soap Box Derby Race
Day – Saturday, July 21st, 2012.
A great way to start the weekend, enjoy the summer weather, and
develop ties with coworkers, the Corporate Challenge Derby is
guaranteed fun - not to mention an excellent opportunity to support
your community and two of the area’s most preeminent non-profit
organizations.
Participation for your team is just $1,250! |
