United Way welcomes two new staff members, summer intern

Two new staff members have been added to the United Way of Summit County team: Joseph Palmisano and Hana Lowe. Brandyn Costa also joins United Way as a summer intern.

Palmisano joins United Way as a resource development director. He will manage workplace fundraising in the Barberton, Norton, Green and Tallmadge areas and the nonprofit sector. Palmisano comes to United Way after working as an urban field researcher for the New York City Commission of Human Rights and Columbia University. He graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado with a bachelor’s degree and from the New School Milano in New York, New York with a master’s degree in nonprofit management.

Lowe joins the staff as donor relations specialist. She is responsible for ensuring United Way major donors receive the highest level of personalized, consistent and accurate customer service. Lowe has more than ten years of experience in customer care, most recently as leader of the customer support department for a hosting company that focuses on providing e-commerce solutions. She attended University of Washington in Seattle, Washington.

Brandyn Costa will spend the summer as an intern in United Way’s Community Impact division. He is a political science undergraduate student at the University of Akron and will provide support to United Way’s Collective Impact initiatives including Bridges Summit County.
