GOJO Kicks Off Month-Long Campaign

GOJO Industries, Inc. recently began its United Way campaign with a leadership meeting where president & COO Mark Lerner encouraged attendees to support the community through their participation. United Way’s president & CEO, Jim Mullen, spoke to the crowd about the work of United Way and shared facts around poverty in Summit County, He also talked about United Way's Imagination Library that delivers a free book monthly to children ages 0-5.

GOJO's downtown Akron offices offered a "Follow Your Passion Event" where employees could learn about programs and initiative supported by United Way donations.  Engaging and creative events continue on Fridays including a GOJO apparel sale, jean’s day, bake sale and chili lunch, TV Show-Themed Putt-Putt and more. GOJO'smanufacturing center on State Road kicked off with a mum sale. The campaign continues with popular events including a bake sale, electronics raffle, and Locker Wars.

Thanks to GOJO associates for the creative effort they put into their campaign events to make them truly fun and engaging!


Myers Industries is "All in for United Way"

Myers Industries' United Way campaign kicked-off on Tuesday, September 29 and centered on the theme "All In for United Way."  The company focused on educatingemployees about United Way and the impact the organization makes in our local community. The company hosted for its employees a catered luncheon with a featured presentation by Jim Mullen, President & CEO of United Way of Summit County.  Jim shared statistics related to poverty in Summit County while telling a real-life story that demonstrated the hardships people living in poverty may encounter and how the work of United Way creates pathways to better futures. 

Campaign chair, Jennifer Nageotte organized a two-week campaign packed with fun prizes based on giving levels and dozens of raffles.  We thank CEO John Orr for his leadership and support of Myers' annual workplace campaign and look forward to great results at the conclusion! 


Meggitt Receives United Way Leadership Award, Launches Campaign

Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems in Akron, held a luncheon on Friday, September 18th to launch its 2015 United Way campaign. The weather was ideal, the food was great and the lunch was a big success. With $2,596 raised from raffle ticket sales plus $507.00 from the 50/50 raffle, a total of $3,103 will go to  United Way.

Katie Rennard, United Way’s enior vice president of Resource Development stopped by to present MABS with a Campaign Leadership Award. Brian Frerichs, MABS 2015 United Way campaign co-chairman, is shown accepting the award.


Fifth Third Celebrates Campaign Start With "Tape Ted Tuesday"

Fifth Third Bank begain its month-long campaign with a presentation by United Way staff. Brian's talk focused on Education  needs, goals and results within Summit County. Ted Walter, President of Akron, Canton, Youngstown region for Fifth Third encouraged employee participation speaking to the value of the work of United Way that keeps our community thriving. Employees had fun purchasing 5 feet of colored duct tape to tape Ted to the wall for "Tape Ted Tuesday." 100% campaign participation is being encouraged at the bank's branch locations with prizes to the branch that achieves this goal.  We thank Ted Walter for his leadership and advocacy for United Way and cheer the employees on toward great results!
