LeBron James Family Foundation Teams Up with Signet and United Way

In September, the LeBron James Family Foundation announced a new partnership with Signet Jewelers and United Way of Summit County. In the coming months, United Way’s iC.A.R.E in-school mentoring program will train Signet employees to serve as mentors to hundreds of children participating in the foundation’s programs, including its I PROMISE Scholarship. Diversity on Board Graduates Inaugural Class

Nine months of hard work in face-to-face coaching sessions and group workshops paid off for the 21 members on the inaugural class of Diversity on Board, which celebrated its graduation this month. The Diversity on Board program, created through a partnership between United Way and Leadership Akron, recruits and trains minority leaders to serve on nonprofit boards in Summit County. Food Drive

While winter break is a time for rest, fun and celebration for students, many children in Akron whose families struggle with food insecurity will come home to empty cupboards. This month, United Way’s newest program will enlist the help of corporate and individual volunteers to provide healthy snacks for children to enjoy over the holidays. Learn more or volunteer >


Neighborhood Leadership Institute
Takes Applications for 2017

The Neighborhood Leadership Institute, presented by Akron Area YMCA and United Way, trains residents in Summit County’s diverse communities to improve quality of life through grassroots collective engagement, advocacy and action.
